The Yellow Ball and Honours event held in Abuja, recognising Nigerian women roles in governance, public service, entrepreneurship, and community development.

The event brought together dignitaries from both the public and private sectors, including political office holders and key stakeholders in nation-building.

It aimed to celebrate excellence and spotlight individuals who have made meaningful contributions to Nigeria and Africa at large.

Award recipients included Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, honoured with the Iyaloja Women’s Empowerment Award; Mrs. Regina Akume, who received the Woman of Excellence Award; veteran actress Ndidi Obi, named Nollywood Icon of the Year; and the Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, who was presented the Yellow Ball Role Model in Politics Award.
Minister Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim described the awards as a reflection of women’s growing impact across sectors.

She reiterated the current administration’s commitment to closing gender gaps and promoting inclusive leadership.

“When you dream big, big things happen. We must continue to celebrate excellence and contribute meaningfully to national development,” she stated.

The wife of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Regina Akume described the recognition as deeply meaningful and urged Nigerian youth to pursue education, skills, and self-reliance.

“Learn a trade if you can’t find a job. There’s so much you can do with your hands. Be creative and build a life of dignity,” she advised.

Accolade Dynamics Ltd managing director, Doofan Chizaram Tor, said the event was created to honour men and women who have built communities through coaching, skills training, and leadership.

“We honour people while they are still here. Women are the heart of our homes and communities. They lead with compassion, strength, and purpose,” she said.

Encouraging women to embrace lifelong learning, she added: “Build your intelligence. Read books. You can be both brains and beauty. Keep pushing forward—nothing is impossible.”

MD highlighted her initiatives in skills acquisition, women empowerment, and health interventions, noting the award as recognition of collective efforts toward national progress.
