BREAKING: Gunmen kidnap NDDC MD’s Special Assistant in Bayelsa

Gunmen have abducted the Special Personal Assistant to the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Mr. Akari Loveday.

Loveday was kidnapped on Friday along the Onuegbum River while traveling to Ayakoro community in Ogbia Local Government Area (LGA), Bayelsa State.

According to a local source, the assailants intercepted the boat carrying him and others, forcibly taking him into their own boat.

However, their engine failed, forcing them to paddle to the riverbank before escaping with their victim into the bush.

As of the time of this report, security operatives have taken over the area in pursuit of the kidnappers.

A source said, “The SA Domestic to the NDDC MD has been kidnapped. He was taken along the river on the way to Ayakoro.

“They removed him from the boat, but as they tried to escape, their engine suddenly stopped. So they pulled to the shore and ran into the bush.

“As I was coming, on the road to Otuoke and the entire area, there was heavy police presence. They were conducting stop-and-search operations.”

Meanwhile, the spokesman of the Bayelsa State Police Command, Mr. Musa Mohammed stated that he was “not aware of it.”
