BREAKING: Gunshots Fired Amid Unrest on Abuja Expressway [VIDEO]

In a bid to disperse rioters on the Kubwa Expressway near Efab Bridge in Abuja, security forces have fired tear gas with gunshots heard.

People have been captured setting tyres on fire, with at least one person reportedly shot.

“The riot is around Efab Bridge, on Kubwa Expressway. They are burning tyres, and gunshots could be heard, but I don’t know what caused the issue,”   an eyewitness said.

Meanwhile, the police have confirmed the development. The spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, said of the incident, “I heard about it, and we have deployed officers to the area. I will get the details when they are back.”

Authorities have urged commuters to avoid the area as security personnel work to restore order.
