BREAKING: How my parents engaged in machete fight, killed each other at home — 13-year-old Ekiti boy

A 13-year-old boy, one of the four children of the couple who killed each other in a brutal machete fight in the Ita Eku area of Igirigiri, Ado-Ekiti, has recounted the tragic events leading to their deaths.

The couple, identified as Caleb, a policeman, and his wife, were discovered lifeless in a pool of blood at their residence on Tuesday. Reports suggest that accusations of infidelity had fueled tension in their marriage.

In a viral video shared on Instagram by Daodu Sammy Gbenga, the boy revealed that there was no sign of a dispute between his parents on the night of the incident. He recalled that his father had planned to share his struggles with him but always seemed afraid whenever his mother was around.

“Before my daddy died, he said he would tell me his story. But whenever my mum came home, he became afraid,” he said.

According to him, his parents had a normal evening—playing, talking, and praying together with the family—before heading to bed. However, in the middle of the night, chaos erupted.

“I started hearing the sound of a cutlass. I quickly woke my sister up, and we tried to get into their room, but it was locked. My sister ran outside, picked up a big stone, and hit the door, but it didn’t open. Meanwhile, we could still hear our dad and mum screaming at each other. So, we ran to the next house to get help,” he narrated.

By the time they returned with neighbors, the fight had ended in silence. They forced the door open and found both parents lying in a pool of blood. The neighbors rushed them to the hospital, but it was too late.

A resident of the area speculated that the woman may have severed her husband’s private part, leading to a deadly retaliation.

The Ekiti State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Sunday Abutu, confirmed the incident, stating that investigations are ongoing to uncover the full details of the tragedy.
