Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, recently highlighted a troubling incident involving a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member who, along with others, fell victim to armed bandits in Sokoto. According to the senator’s tweet, one of the corps members shared a chilling account of how their reliance on Google Maps led them into the dangerous territory of these criminals.

In the post shared by ex-Senator Shehu Sani on his X social media handle, he quoted the escapee, who revealed that their use of Google Maps while en route to Sokoto inadvertently guided them to the hideout of the bandits.

The tweet reads, “One of the youth corpsers who escaped from Bandits narrated that they used Google Maps on their way to Sokoto, and it led them to the Den of Bandits.”

In a report by POSTREPORTERS, the combined efforts of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and the Nigerian military have resulted in the release of another female Prospective Corps Member, including the driver of the bus kidnapped in Zamfara State on their way to the NYSC Orientation Camp in Sokoto State last year, 2023, which brings the total number of Prospective Corps Members already released to five.

The eight prospective Corps members were abducted on August 17 in Zamfara on their way from Uyo to Sokoto for the National Youth Service Corps.
