Joe Ajaero, the president of the Nigeria Labour Congress, is reported in the Vanguard to have criticized the federal government’s practice of convening state governors late at night in an effort to prevent them from organizing for action. He recommends that the federal government implement fresh approaches to interact with state governors. In addition, he bemoans the condition of the country’s refineries, pointing out that none of the petroleum has been produced at the Kaduna refinery.
He said, “You (FG) can no longer call us for a meeting when we have action tomorrow or next tomorrow, and you delay us till 11 pm, 12 am in the night so that we won’t come out to mobilize for action. Such a strategy is obsolete. I think they should adopt new strategies.
I was there when President Tinubu asked the Minister of State for Petroleum, Heineken Lokpobiri, about when the refinery would work. As we’re talking, no drop of fuel or PMS has dropped from that refinery! They should stop lying to people.”
