Ibok-Ette Ibas, the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, has called on the contractor saddled with the responsibility of reconstructing the State House of Assembly to speed up work on the project.
Stating that one of his responsibilities include restoring the stalled legislative activities in the state, Ibas said it is important that the contractors deliver the project as mutually agreed.
Ibas gave the order to the contractor while inspecting the ongoing reconstruction work on the House of Assembly complex
Accompanied by George Nwaeke, the Head of the State Civil Service, Ibas said he is determined to ensure that things are put in place before the expiration of the six month State of Emergency declared by President Bola Tinubu.
He said, “I had been at the Executive arm of the State governance structure and one of the pillars that is missing for now is the legislature and for them to function effectively, they also need a place to work from.
“And perhaps, I am yet to be sure that work is going on as expected so that by the end of the six months, this place will be ready for those who need to use it. I think basically that is what it is,” Ibas stated.
Also noting that the state has done its bid by provided the funds needed for the reconstruction of the House of Assembly Complex, Ibas said the timeline for delivering should be adhered to by the contractor.
“So the onus is on them to make sure that they keep to the terms,” he said.
