The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has apologised to customers over widespread power outages across its service areas.
The disruptions, which affected several 11kV feeders, were caused by forced outages, load shedding, earth faults, and disconnections due to unpaid bills.
In a press release shared on its X account late Saturday, IBEDC explained that planned maintenance by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and unforeseen faults also contributed to the outages.
The company stated:
“We sincerely apologise for our inability to deliver the estimated hours of supply on your feeder. This was due to TCN planned outages, TCN load shedding, IBEDC forced outages, load shedding, earth faults, and disconnection for non-payment.”
According to the statement, most of the affected feeders have been restored, except for the Stadium 11kV feeder, which remains out due to non-payment.
IBEDC urged customers to promptly report faults and clear outstanding payments to prevent further disruptions. It also cautioned against self-help and advised customers to contact service centres or the customer care hotline in emergencies.
