The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has urged public servants to always maintain integrity and professionalism to achieve sustainable public service delivery.
Mr. Jenmi Ganiu, Principal Superintendent of Public Enlightenment and Education at the Ondo State ICPC office, made the call during a sensitisation session held in Akure on Monday. The session was organised for staff members of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) in Ondo State.
The theme of the session was ‘Understanding Ethics in the Public Service’.
Ganiu explained that the goal of the exercise was to foster a corruption-free and accountable public service, emphasising the importance of public servants maintaining public trust, ensuring accountability, and promoting transparency in governance.
“As public servants, we need to align with the broader goals of the government to promote sustainable development through ethical governance and citizen-centred service delivery,” he said.
Mrs. Wura Akinridola, NIMC State Coordinator, thanked the ICPC for the sensitisation, which she said provided valuable insights and practical tools for overcoming ethical challenges. She urged participants to shun corruption and support the government’s efforts to promote transparency and efficiency in the public service.
Around 50 members of the NIMC staff attended the event, engaging in discussions on ethical dilemmas and strategies for maintaining integrity in their work.
