BREAKING: IGP Egbetokun Refutes Governor Adeleke’s Allegations Of Involvement In Osun Violence

Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun has dismissed allegations made by Ademola Adeleke, the governor of Osun, linking him to the recent violence in the state. Adeleke had accused the IGP of colluding with the All Progressives Congress (APC) to enforce a non-existent court order reinstating sacked local government chairpersons and councillors.

Responding to the claims on Thursday, Egbetokun described the allegations as “clearly contrary to reason” and unworthy of a response.

“I refuse to dignify such absurdity with a response. I believe in challenging distortion of facts; we will not allow distortion of facts against us to go unchallenged,” the IGP stated.

Egbetokun clarified that the police response in Osun was purely a security measure following reports of violence. He stated that reinforcement was sent at the request of the state commissioner of police to restore order.

“You are all aware of the violence that broke out in Osun a few days ago. What we have done in Osun is to respond to the call of the commissioner of police in the state for reinforcement. We have reinforced the command, and we have enough men on the ground to ensure that there is law and order in that state.”

The IGP urged residents of Osun to remain calm and continue their daily activities while ensuring the rule of law prevails. He reassured the public that law enforcement agencies are committed to maintaining peace and order in the state.
