BREAKING: I’m a nail tech and there are 2 super common pedicure practices I’d never let anyone use on me – they’re so dangerous

The owner of a nail salon revealed the popular practices she steers clear of after going to beauty school. In her video, Amanda ( @thewnailbar ) revealed the three things she would never do both as a customer and as a nail tech.

For her first tip, the TikToker advised her followers against using a jetted pedicure basin.

“When I was in nail school, we were taught how your chances of getting Staph, MRSA, athlete’s foot, or other infections go through the roof if the jetted tubs are not cleaned properly,” she said.

“They have to sit and run in hospital-grade disinfectant for 10 minutes.”

Amanda explained that learning this health and safety advice made her realize that most salons she had visited do not put it into practice.

“I thought, ‘I’ll never put my feet in there again’ so that’s why we have copper pots,” she told her viewers.

Next, she revealed the type of nail style she would never offer in any of her locations.

“I would never go into a nail salon that offers acrylics, I would never do acrylics, offer them, or have my employees do them,” she said.

Amanda explained that on her first day of training to do acrylic nails she experienced some worrying side effects.

“I got so sick, my eyes swelled shut, I couldn’t breathe and I knew that was never going to be something that we offered or I would ever do again,” she said.

Finally, she recommended avoiding having your nail tech use a cheese grater on your feet.

“I would never let anyone use a cheese grater on the bottom of my foot because cheese graters are for cheese,” Amanda said.

“It honestly can be so dangerous and take off too much of your skin.”

Her followers shared their thoughts on the advice in the comments section.

“The pedicure scenario hit home, one time the filter thing came off, and all of this dead skin from others let loose while I was soaking,” wrote one viewer.

“And this is why I don’t go to salons for pedicures,” said another TikTok user.

“I got MRSA from a pedicure and had both of my big toe nails removed,” commented a third person.
