BREAKING: INEC announces LP candidate, Ango Abdullahi’s son as winners of Kaduna Reps elections

Labour Party (LP) standard-bearer, Ekene Adams Abubakar, has emerged winner of the contest to pick representative of Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency of Kaduna State in the National Assembly.

He defeated the incumbent, Yakubu Barde of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), who has represented the constituency since 2003

The Returning Officer, Prof. Bashir Abubakar, said the LP candidate polled 57,725 ballots to beat Barde, who scored 47,937 votes, while All Progressives Congress’ (APC) Caino Cafra Boaz came distant third with 19,293 tally.

Speaking with newsmen shortly after the declaration, the victor explained that the voice of the people had prevailed, attributing the victory to God, whom he said, gives power.

The Rep-elect pledged that his administration would focus on improving the livelihood of the citizenry and remain the people’s servant.

ALSO, son of Prof. Ango Abdullahi, Sadiq, who spent 69 days in captivity following attack on the Kaduna-Abuja train of March 28, 2022, has won the Sabon Gari Federal Constituency election on the platform of the PDP. He scored the highest votes cast of 33,616 to defeat the incumbent and fourth term member, Mohammed Garba Datti of the APC, who polled 31,737 votes.

The result was declared by Dr. Hashim Suleiman of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria.
