[BREAKING] Insecurity: Lawmaker condemns renewed attacks in Southern Kaduna, demands FG action

A Lawmaker representing Southern Kaduna Senatorial Zone, Senator Sunday Marshall Katung has urged the Federal Government to take immediate and decisive action to safeguard innocent citizens against the recent surge in terrorist attacks in the region.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Lawmaker decried the relentless attacks on communities in Kauru, Kachia, Zangon Kataf, Kaura, and Sanga Local Government Areas, describing the situation as “heinous criminality” that has inflicted immense pain and hardship on the people.

The latest onslaught saw 22 locals—mostly women and children—abducted in separate attacks on Kugauta, Kusheka, Kumana, and Kitanda communities in Kauru LGA. The senator insisted that these brazen acts of terror must not go unchecked.

Citing Section 14(2)(b) of the Nigerian Constitution, which prioritizes the security and welfare of citizens, Katung reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring safety.

He revealed ongoing collaboration with the Kaduna State Government and the Chief of Defence Staff to establish a Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Kauru and other high-risk areas to confront and neutralize the assailants.

While applauding the dedication of security forces, the senator urged them to intensify operations to secure communities in Southern Kaduna and beyond.

He also called on residents to support security agencies by providing crucial intelligence that could lead to the arrest of criminals and their informants.

In a message of solidarity, Katung extended heartfelt condolences to the families of victims, vowing that Southern Kaduna will not be abandoned.

“This too shall pass,” he assured, as the battle to reclaim peace and security continues.
