The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has firmly dismissed swirling rumours of a nationwide petrol price hike, aiming to quell public anxiety and misinformation.
The association highlighted that local refineries are now back in operation, a significant step that promises to lower fuel prices for consumers.
In an exclusive interview with the Voice of America, Bashir Salisu Tahir, Chairman of IPMAN’s Northwest Chapter, confidently refuted claims of any impending price increases. “Our members have not raised petrol prices at any point,” he stated emphatically.
Tahir elaborated, “The market now dictates pricing, and there is absolutely no truth to these alarming rumours. Although diesel prices have seen an uptick recently due to shifting market conditions, they are expected to decrease as the market stabilises.”
He further noted that with the return of operations at the country’s refineries, there is a strong expectation for petrol prices to also stabilise and drop in the near future, offering hope to motorists across Nigeria.
