In an interview with The Nigerian Tribune, the Right-Reverend Michael Oluwarohunbi—who also serves as the Bishop of the Yewa Anglican Diocese and the former General-Secretary of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion—spoke about how to overcome the nation’s present security issues.
According to him, the nation’s security concerns are a major problem that need to be resolved right away by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is currently in control.
He said, “It is a fact that President Bola Tinubu inherited many problems from our former leader, President Mohammadu Buhari, especially the security challenges. But we have a new government already and they can make a drastic change and difference through the help of God. ”
Further talking, he said that the main reason why the armed men have the upper hand over the good Nigerian citizens, is because they are well armed and the people are not armed.
He added, “I think as one of the proactive measures, the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led government needs to, as a matter of urgency, de-centralise the security system of the country.”
Right Reverend Michael Oluwarohunbi, claimed that this will, no doubt, empower the stakeholders, the traditional rulers, and even the people at the local levels to help fish out the criminals from their hideouts.
