BREAKING: ‘It’s defamatory’, Abati condemns Atiku’s comment on Akpabio

Reuben Abati, a columnist and host on the Arise Television’s Morning Show has described allegations levelled against the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio by Atiku Abubakar as defamatory.
Abati while speaking on the show on Wednesday, March 26, said as a former vice president and Nigerian leader, Atiku should know that he went out of line with his allegation against Akpabio.
Recall that Atiku Abubakar had alleged that the Senate President during his days as governor was corrupt and was in the habit of abusing women.
Atiku made the allegation during a video interview with Adesuwa Giwa-Osagie of Untold Stories on Tuesday, March 25.
However, reacting to Atiku’s remarks on Akpabio’s activities as the governor of Akwa Ibom State, Abati said, “On that story about the interview that Waziri of Adamawa had with Adesuwa Giwa-Osagie. Two things, major things that stood out for me in the interview; first the Waziri of Adamawa referring to Akpabio as always having issues with women, that he has a habit of abusing women and that he was guilty of corruption and all of that.
“I hope that Waziri Adamawa who has been vice president of this country realises that that is defamatory per say because Senator Godswill Akpabio can decide to take the option of asking him to come and prove that he is guilty of corruption, having not being previously convicted in that regard,” Abati noted.
Atiku’s allegation against Akpabio comes weeks after the lawmaker representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan accused the Senate president of sexually harassing her.
Akpoti-Uduaghan in her allegation that the Senate President further made her work – representing members of her constituents in the Senate – difficult after she refused his sexual advances.
