The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that a total of 887 examination centres will be utilised for the 2025 optional Mock Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (Mock-UTME) scheduled for April 10, 2025, nationwide.

JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, disclosed this during a virtual meeting held with Chief External Examiners (CEEs), Chief Technical Advisors (CTAs), and other key stakeholders.

According to the board’s weekly bulletin, the board previously met with State Commissioners of Education to update them on recent innovations in its processes.

In his remarks, Oloyede acknowledged the invaluable contributions of the CEEs and CTAs over the years and urged them to continue acting in the Board’s best interest.

He emphasised that while securing the 887 centres for the upcoming examination posed several challenges, these were overcome through the determination of stakeholders and the implementation of a software solution which effectively identified duplicate CBT centres.

Highlighting the importance of the CEEs’ role in overseeing the examination process, the Registrar noted that valuable lessons were learned from the 2024 UTME, which was deemed exemplary. These insights will be leveraged to enhance the 2025 examination experience.

Oloyede outlined the responsibilities of the CEEs, which include providing leadership to examination personnel within their states, ensuring smooth examination conduct, appointing three computer-literate proctors for each centre, addressing challenges promptly, and compiling daily summary reports.

Additionally, he expressed gratitude to the CTAs for their commitment to maintaining high standards, urging them to remain steadfast in their support for the 2025 UTME by offering essential technical advice, resolving challenges, and safeguarding sensitive equipment.

The Registrar also clarified the categorization of examination centres into two zones: Lagos (LAG) and Kaduna (KAD). Centres in the southern states, excluding Port Harcourt and Benin but including Kano and Abuja, fall under the LAG zone.

According to him, in contrast, the KAD zone encompasses all northern states, including Port Harcourt and Benin, but excludes Kano and Abuja.
