BREAKING: Jigawa Commissioner Returns N301m To State Treasury After Ramadan Feeding

In a commendable act of transparency, Mr Auwalu Danladi Sankara, the Jigawa State commissioner for special duties, has returned N301 million to the state treasury. These funds were part of the allocation for the recent Ramadan feeding programme, which successfully provided food and aid to numerous residents.
A thorough audit of the ministry’s expenses identified a surplus of N301 million. Instead of misusing the remaining funds, Mr Sankara returned them to the treasury, demonstrating integrity in public service.
During the official handover in Dutse, the commissioner remarked that returning the funds was right. “The money belongs to the people, and it is only proper that it goes back to the treasury,” he stated.
The secretary to the state government praised the commissioner’s decision as exemplary, affirming that Governor Umar Namadi’s administration will continue to promote financial prudence and transparency.
This gesture has garnered widespread acclaim, with many seeing it as a refreshing change in public finance management. Observers believe it sends a strong message to other government officials amidst ongoing concerns over corruption.
For the people of Jigawa State, this act signifies trust and responsible leadership prioritising public interest.
