In a public engagement held at the Birninkudu Township Stadium, Jigawa State, a group of youth booed the Commissioner for Health and Social Development, Dr. Muhammad Abdullahi Kainuwa, and the Director-General of the state’s Youth Empowerment Agency, Dr. Habibu Kanya.
The drama unfolded during the “Citizens Engagement Programme,” where both officials presented what they claimed to be successful projects executed within the state.
Dr. Kainuwa’s presentation was immediately met with loud protests from the audience, who openly disputed his claims about health and social development initiatives in the local government.
Faced with growing disapproval, the Commissioner was forced to abandon his speech and began defending himself in front of dignitaries, including the Governor and the Minister of Defence.
Also, Dr. Kanya’s presentation about his agency’s achievements was also met with skepticism.
The youth voiced doubts about the authenticity of his statements, further questioning the credibility of the progress being reported by the government.
In response to the public outcry, Governor Umar Namadi assured the people of Jigawa that an investigation would be launched into the disputed claims.
He emphasized his administration’s commitment to ensuring transparency and accountability, stating, “We will get to the bottom of this issue. We will investigate to uncover the truth behind these claims and give our people an accurate understanding of our state’s development.”
The Governor went on to emphasize that the investigation would help clarify whether the health commissioner and the director-general had overstated their accomplishments.
“This probe is part of our ongoing efforts to align our projects with the needs and expectations of the people, as laid out in our 12-point agenda,” Governor Namadi explained.
He further assured the public that his administration is dedicated to executing projects that reflect the true needs of Jigawa citizens and addressing their concerns.
