BREAKING: Jigawa Governor welcomes over 200 PDP, NNPP defectors to APC

The governor of Jigawa State, Umar Namadi on Tuesday welcomed 216 defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The members of the opposition party who just joined the APC were received by the governor at the Citizens’ and Government Engagement Forum in the Gagarawa local government area of Jigawa State.

Speaking at the event, Namadi said the platform for established to give the people of the state the opportunity to understand achievements made by the government.

He also said the platform allows the citizens the opportunity to air their views and keep the government abreast of the challenges they are facing and possible ways of addressing them.

Namadi further noted that the forum is open to every resident of Jigawa, irrespective of their political affiliation.

At the forum, Habibu Dangodo who spoke on behalf of the defectors informed the chairman of the state chapter of the APC, Aminu Gumel of their defection plan.

Dangodo also handed a list of the defectors to Gumel for onward documentation.

He explained that their defection to APC was hinged on the achievements of the state governor and his visionary leadership.

He said, “Governor Namadi’s leadership has convinced us that the APC truly means well for Gagarawa local government and Jigawa State. We felt it necessary to join hands in building a modern, prosperous, and greater Jigawa.”
