
The Jigawa State and Local Governments Contributory Pension Board has commenced the disbursement of N733,517,011.13 million in terminal and death benefits to 281 retirees and the relatives of deceased civil servants.
The Executive Secretary of the Board, Dr. Bilyaminu Shitu Aminu revealed the details of the disbursement during a ceremony held at the Pension House in Dutse.
He clarified that the total sum covers gratuities, death benefits, and death pension balances for retirees and the families of those who passed away while still in service.
Of the total sum, N542,017,148.60 million will be allocated to 208 retired civil servants who voluntarily retired or reached the mandatory retirement age. An additional N144,159,513.19 million will be paid to 47 relatives of those who died in active service.
The final batch of beneficiaries consists of 26 retirees who started receiving monthly pensions but passed away before completing the minimum five years post-retirement.
These beneficiaries will receive N47,340,349.34 million.
Dr. Shitu emphasized that Jigawa’s pension policy is one of the best in the country, with timely and accurate disbursements of entitlements, including those due to civil servants who died in service.
He further affirmed that the state is up-to-date with the payment of monthly pensions to all retired civil servants.
“This milestone reflects the commitment of our government to ensuring the welfare and financial security of our retirees, we are dedicated to supporting those who have dedicated their lives to public service, and the timely release of these funds will provide much-needed stability for their post-service life.”Dr. Shitu said.
Governor Malam Umar A. Namadi, who was acknowledged for his unwavering support for the scheme, continues to prioritize the welfare of retirees across the state.
The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude for the prompt payment, noting that the funds would significantly improve their quality of life and enable them to meet financial obligations.
