BREAKING: Jigawa PDP Elects New Leaders

After a prolonged delay and legal tussles, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Jigawa State has finally conducted its state congress, electing new executives to steer the affairs of the party for the next three years.
The congress, held on Saturday in Dutse, the state capital, was overseen by a committee from the PDP national headquarters, led by the chairman, Barr Isa Ahmad and the secretary, Dahiru Hassan Kira, alongside other members.
In his remarks after casting his vote, the party leader and former Jigawa State governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido, expressed satisfaction with the arrangements put in place for a free, fair and transparent election.
He described the congress as a milestone in the party’s struggle to liberate Nigeria from self-centered leaders whose poor governance has caused untold hardship for citizens.
Lamido expressed optimism that the PDP would emerge stronger ahead of the 2027 elections, offering a new hope and chance for Nigerians to have rightful leaders.
While declaring the election result in which all 39 candidates ran unopposed for various positions, Barr Isa Ahmad commended the local organising committee, party leaders and members for demonstrating patriotism and commitment to the party’s future and Nigeria at large.
He noted that the election of the new executives was conducted peacefully and transparently, in full compliance with the PDP constitution.
Barr Ahmad announced Hon (Dr) Babandi Ibrahim Gumel as the newly elected state chairman, Hon Umar Danjani as deputy chairman, and Muhammad Bahutu as the state secretary.
Others include Saleh Yahaya, vice chairman, Northeast Zone; Hon Uba Bawan Allah, vice chairman, Northwest Zone; Hon Idris Danlawan, vice chairman, Central Zone and Hajiya Murja Garki, state women leader, among others.
In his acceptance speech, the new state chairman, Dr Gumel, thanked party leaders and members for entrusting him with the leadership at this critical time.
He pledged to collaborate with all stakeholders to foster an inclusive administration where every member’s rights and opinions are respected in line with the party’s constitution.
“We will work together to reposition the PDP, the party Nigerians trust as the only platform capable of rescuing them from the current socioeconomic crises, insecurity, poverty and hunger plaguing the nation daily,” he declared.
