When confronted with the claim that Trump had denied ties to Project 2025—a far-right blueprint for overhauling the government—Harris didn’t hold back. “He says everything’s not true,” she quipped, dismissing his denial.
Although Trump publicly distanced himself from Project 2025 during his campaign, his actions tell a different story. Just weeks after securing victory, he appointed one of the plan’s authors, Russell Vought, as director of the Office of Management and Budget. Tom Homan, another contributor, is now Trump’s border czar. According to a Time report from January, many of Trump’s early executive orders closely mirror the proposals in the 900-page document, including aggressive immigration policies and widespread deregulation.
Harris’ warning about the Department of Education is also making waves. She cautioned voters that Trump’s allies wanted to dismantle the department entirely—a core priority of Project 2025. Since taking office, Trump’s Education Secretary, Linda McMahon, has publicly supported the idea. A cryptic email sent earlier this month even ordered the shutdown of multiple department offices nationwide, fueling further speculation.
Another alarming prediction? Medicaid cuts. During her campaign, Harris sounded the alarm on Trump’s plan to slash government health programs. Fast forward to March, and the Congressional Budget Office is confirming those fears. Their latest analysis reveals that Republican budget goals would be nearly impossible to meet without gutting Medicaid by hundreds of billions of dollars.
