The Chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, Muhuyi Magaji, has been released after being arrested by the Inspector General of Police Monitoring Unit on Friday.
Reliable sources who spoke with The Guardian disclosed that Magaji was taken into custody at his office by detectives who did not provide any explanation for the arrest at the time.
Sources within the Anti-Corruption Commission revealed that the officers insisted on arresting Magaji without disclosing their mission or reason for the operation.
Speculation suggests that the arrest may be connected to the commission’s ongoing investigation into the alleged diversion of ₦4 billion and properties belonging to the Kano Agricultural Supply Company Limited (KASCO) during the immediate past administration.
Two weeks ago, the commission reported an attempted seizure of assets valued at over ₦2 billion, including trailers, trucks, and minivans, allegedly linked to the former Managing Director of KASCO.
Magaji who was released on bail on self-recognition late Friday night, was required to provide a written statement before his release around 10:45 pm.
Naija News learnt that the police directed Rimingado to report at the Force headquarters in Abuja on Monday for further questioning.
The Kano State Police Command and the Inspector General of Police Monitoring Unit have yet to release an official statement on the incident.
