BREAKING: Kogi earmarks over N7 billion for rehabilitation of healthcare centres

The Kogi State government has earmarked the sum of N7 billion for the rehabilitation of primary healthcare centres in the state.

Speaking at official handover ceremony of the additional PHC centres to contractors, the governor of the state, Usman Ododo said health centres across the 21 local government areas would be revamped.

Ododo, represented by the Kogi state commissioner for health, Abdulazeez Adams said the rehabilitation of the centres is a sequel to the revamping of 70 other PHC across the state.

According to him, the process which was approved in March 2024 is at different levels at the centres.

Ododo stated that the revamping of the PHCs is in line with the state governments plan to improve access to quality healthcare services in Kogi.

He said, “As we step into the New Year 2025, we are proud to launch a groundbreaking initiative—the upgrade of 88 additional Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) across the state, complementing the ongoing upgrade of 70 PHCs to functional Level-2 facilities.

“This marks another bold step towards achieving effective healthcare delivery and universal health coverage for our people,” Ododo noted.
