BREAKING: Lagos begins enforcement of E-Call Up System on Lekki Port corridor

The Lagos State Government has begun full enforcement of the E-Call Up System, aimed at streamlining and regulating truck activities along the Lekki-Epe corridor.

The technology-driven system, which has been in development for over two years, was introduced to manage the anticipated increase in vehicular traffic caused by trucks accessing the Lekki Deep Seaport, Lekki Free Zone, Dangote Refinery, and other industries in the area.

With enforcement now in full swing, the State Government urges truck operators to comply with the system, following several engagement meetings to educate stakeholders on its benefits. Adequate time was given for full integration, and enforcement, initially postponed to encourage voluntary compliance, officially began on 24th January 2025. On that day, 10 trucks were apprehended but later released as a gesture of goodwill, with assurances from stakeholders that they would comply with the system.

However, on Friday, 21st February 2025, 11 trucks were apprehended for non-compliance. This led to an attack on enforcement officers, resulting in the arrest of several suspects connected to the incident. The suspects and trucks were later released as another demonstration of the government’s support for voluntary compliance.

The state government has cautioned that these acts of clemency should not be interpreted as weakness. A full enforcement process will begin on 1st March 2025, with all violators to be apprehended and held accountable under the law.

The Lagos State Government remains committed to fostering a conducive environment for all stakeholders operating along the Lekki-Epe corridor and across the state.
