BREAKING: Lagos Deputy Gov lauds Kadri Obafemi Hamzat for first staff retreat in over 15 years

Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, has praised the Ministry of Youth and Social Development for organising its first staff retreat in over 15 years.

Dr. Hamzat made the remarks at the conclusion of the three-day retreat, held at Novatel Hotel, Lekki-Epe Expressway, Lagos.

He noted the significance of the retreat, emphasising that it was long overdue, given that the Ministry has not hosted one in a quarter of a century.

“It is surprising that the Ministry has not held a retreat for its staff in 25 years. The Ministry itself is large enough to be split into three departments—Welfare, Social Development, and Rehabilitation. Therefore, there is no reason why staff should not be given opportunities to learn new things about their roles.

“A retreat offers a chance to unlock potential and acquire new knowledge through continuous learning,” Dr. Hamzat stated.

In his address, the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr. Mobolaji Abubakre Ogunlende, explained that the decision to hold the retreat was a deliberate attempt to break staff members away from the usual norms and protocols of the office in Alausa.

“The retreat is specifically for staff at Grade Level 13 and 14. We recognise the importance of allowing this group to learn, unlearn, and relearn.

“Knowledge is key to effective service delivery, and it is essential for ensuring the optimal performance needed to realise the vision of the present administration,” he added.
