BREAKING: Lagos to commission 10 more ferries, 35 roads, 5 bridges soon – Commissioner

Lagos State is gearing up for an infrastructure rollout soon with the commissioning of 10 more ferries, 35 roads, and 5 bridges across the state.

This announcement was made by the State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso, on Friday at the Joint Citizens/ Media Engagement Forum where he reflected on the state government’s achievements and ongoing projects.

Omotoso, who expressed gratitude to the media for its role in promoting the government’s policies, revealed the state’s commitment to modernizing its transportation network.

“We are combining three modes of transportation—rail, road, and water. These projects are crucial to enhancing mobility for Lagosians.

When people ask me what I think was the most important thing the government did last year, I usually tell them that the most exciting thing for me was the launch of the Red Line, which was started and promised to be completed during this administration,” he said

The commissioner also reiterated the state government’s efforts to improve food security, including the construction of a logistics facility in Efe, which will be the largest in sub-Saharan Africa once completed.

Other projects mentioned by Omotoso include the construction of a massive three-child hospital in Efe, which will be the best in sub-Saharan Africa, and the planning of an international airport to alleviate pressure on the Murtala Muhammed Airport.

“Everything is set for the Meki International Airport, as the federal government has given it the green light and agreements have been signed for its construction.”

Earlier, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and Strategy, Mr. Olumide Sogunle, has called on the media to provide sincere and constructive feedback on the government’s performance.

He emphasised the importance of open communication between the government and the media.

He noted that the government values the media’s role in informing the public about its achievements and challenges.

Sogunle encouraged the media to provide suggestions on how the government can better serve the people, stating that their input will be taken seriously and presented to the Executive Council.

The Permanent Secretary also pointed at the government’s achievements, citing the Blue and Red Lines as examples.

He hinted at future projects, including the proposed Green and Purple Lines.
