The Lagos State Government has reiterated its commitment to alleviating the financial challenges of its residents through the Sanwo-Olu Listen Financial Assistance Programme.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Political, Legislative, and Civic Engagement, Dr. Afolabi Abiodun Tajudeen made this announcement during his appearance on Ojutaye, an indigenous magazine programme on Radio Lagos 107.5fm.
Dr. Afolabi explained that the Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has consistently launched policies and programmes designed to ease the financial burdens of residents, including those struggling with house rents, school fees, health challenges, and the needs of entrepreneurs.
Despite the growing influx of immigrants into Lagos and the pressure on the city’s infrastructure, the Governor has remained dedicated to improving the lives of residents, especially during these challenging times when the nation’s economy is undergoing major reforms.
“We recognise the challenges faced by residents, and that’s why we continue to provide financial assistance. The programme is all about empowerment and ensuring every resident has the necessary resources to thrive,” Dr. Afolabi said.
In addition to financial aid, the Special Adviser highlighted the Office’s efforts in sensitising and engaging residents through advocacy programmes across all Senatorial Districts.
These initiatives are aimed at informing the public about government policies and encouraging active civic participation.
“We are also utilising the Citizens Gate App, which allows residents to report issues that are then addressed by relevant authorities. This platform promotes an inclusive society, ensuring that concerns are resolved efficiently,” he added.
Dr. Afolabi also emphasised the partnership between his office and various ministries, departments, and agencies, such as the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), in educating voters on the upcoming local elections.
The goal is to reduce voter apathy and inform the public about the process of obtaining permanent voter’s cards.
He encouraged Lagos residents to take full advantage of the state’s programmes and policies, as they are designed to improve their quality of life, foster economic growth, and support social empowerment.
