The Joint Academic Union of Yobe State Tertiary Institutions (JASU) has officially declared a one-week warning strike commencing today, September 30, 2024.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The announcement follows an expired ultimatum that was issued on September 23, 2024, which went unaddressed by the state authorities.
In a letter signed by JASU President, Dr. Modu Lawan Gana, and circulated to all chapter Chairmen, the union highlighted the lack of action from the government despite their earlier resolutions.
The letter, referenced as JASU/ADM/03/VOL.4.1, states: “Sequel to the resolution dated 23rd September 2024 on the extension of the ultimatum by one week upon which members are to proceed on one-week morning strike.
“In the event that no resolution was made, I am formally notifying you that no resolution was made within the extended period. Therefore members are urged to proceed to the one-week warning strike starting Monday 30th September, 2024.”
JASU has instructed its members to withhold all academic and non-academic services during the strike period.
The union expressed hope for a prompt and amicable resolution while urging members to comply fully with the strike action.
There have been tensions between academic unions and the Yobe State government regarding various unresolved issues affecting tertiary institutions in the state.
