[BREAKING] LG crisis: Chairman, two others killed in Osun

No fewer than three persons have been reportedly killed including the allegedly sacked Irewole Local Government Chairman, Hon. Aderemi Abass.

Abass was killed on Monday in Ikire headquarters of Irewole local government in process of resuming office.

Confirming the death of the chairman, the chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), Mr Jamiu Olawumi said that Abass was killed on highway while crossing to the Irewole local government Secretariant to resume to office.

He called on the federal government to call the state governor, Ademola Adeleke to order for the safety of the people in the State.

Similarly, two members of the People Democracy Party (PDP) were reportedly killed at the Boripe local government Secretariat, Iragbiji.

Speaking at the local government headquarters in Iragbiji, the Commissioner for Government Affairs and Protocol to Osun State Governor, Ajeigbe Korede confirmed the death of two members of the PDP.

Korede said that about six members of their party sustained various degree of injuries.

He called on Federal government to call the people of behind the attack to order to maintain peaceful atmosphere in the State.

He said “Earlier this morning, around 5am, we received a call that APC thugs, led by Banik from Ire, a former local government and chieftaincy affairs official, Adebayo Adeleke, who served under the Oyetola regime, along with Asiri-Eniba and thugs from different local governments, were mobilizing at the Secretariat.

“We came out to investigate the issue and none of our party members were present to attack or harass them. Suddenly, they began shooting with pump-action guns and AK-47s, firing live bullets in the presence of security personnel from Boripe Local Government, including the DPO who was on the scene.

“We have been informed that they are still in Iragbeji, currently at the former governor’s house among are Asiri-Eniba and Sogo Banik where we believe they are restrategized to launch another attack. They have promised to return tomorrow.”
