BREAKING: Like Oyo, Sokoto Warns Residents Against Activities Of Fleeing Bandits

The Sokoto State government on Wednesday, January 22, warned residents to be wary of the activities of bandits fleeing military onslaught from neighbouring states.

Ahmed Usman, the Special Adviser to Governor Ahmed Aliyu on Security Matters, said the alert became necessary as several bandits have noticeably fled nearby states to find solace in a more calm environment.

Calling for caution among residents, Usman said the Sokoto State government is working with the military for a successful cleanup.

Noting that terrorists and bandits alike have been left disorganised with ongoing military operations, Usman said some of the criminals have been identified and eliminated.

While urging residents to remain vigilant, Usman added that kidnapped victims have also been rescued following military efforts.

“As security operatives put more pressure on the bandits, they are fleeing to other areas with their injured members. We are creating awareness to alert our people to be cautious, as some bandits may disguise themselves and seek refuge in villages or receive treatment at local clinics,” Usman noted.
