Police operatives have reportedly arrested a 32-year-old man, Joshua Simeon, for allegedly abducting a five-year-old girl in Anambra State.
The suspect, a native of Ohaozara in Ebonyi State, was apprehended on Saturday at Nkpor Central Park, Idemili North Local Government Area, while attempting to leave for an undisclosed destination.
According to the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the child, identified as Nkemdilim Jacob, was reportedly taken from her parents’ home in Umuota Village, Obosi, before law enforcement intercepted the suspect.
“The suspect had already boarded a commercial vehicle when officers from the Ogidi Area Command moved in and arrested him,” Ikenga stated.
He added that the suspect is currently in custody and undergoing interrogation to determine his motives and whether he is linked to a broader child trafficking network.
Meanwhile, efforts are underway to reunite the child with her family.
