BREAKING: Man Sentenced to Jail for Cutting Colleague’s Hand

A court in Okitipupa, Ondo State, has sentenced a farmer, Abu Abubakar, to six months in prison for attacking his colleague, Ibrahim Tukur, with a machete.

Chief Magistrate Olarenwaju Adelegan ruled that Abubakar, 25, would serve his sentence at the Okitipupa Correctional Centre without the option of a fine.

Abubakar pleaded guilty to the charge of assault. According to police prosecutor ASP Zedekiah Orogbemi, the incident happened on January 30 at 8:00 a.m. in the Sabo area of Okitipupa.

Orogbemi explained that Abubakar and Tukur had a disagreement that escalated, leading Abubakar to grab a machete and attack Tukur.

Tukur raised his right hand to block the blow but suffered serious injuries on his hand and body.

The offence violates Section 355 of the Criminal Code of Ondo State, 2006.
