BREAKING: Man slumps, dies while breaking Ramadan fast in Gwagwalada

A man identified as Abdulrasheed Usman reportedly slumped and died while breaking his Ramadan fast in the Kutunku area of Gwagwalada, Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

According to a witness, Suleiman Bala, the incident occurred on Saturday while Usman was eating fruits with three of his friends. Bala explained that the deceased was seated on a bench when he suddenly collapsed.

His friends quickly rushed him to a nearby hospital on a motorcycle, but the doctor on duty confirmed him dead on arrival.

Bala added that Usman had returned from Kaduna around 5:47 pm and immediately went to join his friends for iftar (breaking of fast) when the unfortunate incident happened.

“One of his brothers said the deceased returned from Kaduna and went to meet his friends where they usually relaxed. When the Maghrib prayer was called, he joined them to break the fast, and it was during this time that he collapsed,” the witness recounted.

The remains of Usman have since been buried according to Islamic rites.

Muslims worldwide began the Ramadan fast on Saturday following the sighting of the new crescent moon.
