Manchester United are keeping their hopes alive of signing dream striker Victor Osimhen by making a key decision regarding Alejandro Garnacho’s future. Garnacho has surprisingly been put up for sale by United, potentially playing a crucial role in their pursuit of the Nigerian international.
With the club facing a potential financial crisis in the summer, players like Kobbie Mainoo, Marcus Rashford, and Garnacho are being considered for sale. However, United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has demonstrated that these players won’t be sold cheaply, rejecting a €40 million offer from Napoli for Garnacho, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
Napoli, looking to replace Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who is set to join PSG for around €70 million, had targeted Garnacho but were unwilling to meet United’s €70 million valuation. With Napoli cooling their interest, they are now exploring other options, including Bologna winger Dan Ndoye.
Despite this, United may attempt to use Garnacho as a bargaining chip to land Osimhen, who has expressed his desire to leave Napoli and is currently on loan at Galatasaray. Transfer expert Ben Jacobs noted the financial difficulty of the deal, even with Osimhen’s release clause dropping to €75 million.
A potential swap deal could benefit all parties, allowing United to secure their “dream” striker while Garnacho could follow in Diego Maradona’s footsteps at Napoli. Although challenging, the deal remains a possibility, though it will likely have to wait until the summer.
