BREAKING: Man With Earpiece Crushed to Death by Train in Lagos

Tragedy struck in Lagos on Friday when a middle-aged trader was fatally struck by a Lagos-Ibadan train near the Arena Shopping Complex, Oshodi. The incident, which occurred around 2 pm, drew a crowd of onlookers and sympathizers.

According to eyewitnesses, the victim was standing on the railway tracks, urinating with an earpiece plugged into both ears. Despite the train’s loud horn and warnings from bystanders, he failed to hear the approaching train.

As reported by Newsmen, the deceased was chatting on the phone while walking along the tracks with three others. However, the others quickly moved to safety after hearing the train’s horn. The victim, identified as a shop owner in Moyosore Shopping Complex, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Efforts were ongoing to contact his family, while the police were called to evacuate the body. A source from the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) confirmed the incident, adding that the victim’s identity had yet to be officially verified.

Reporters further highlighted that train-related accidents are becoming increasingly common in Lagos, particularly in areas like Agbado, Agege, Ikeja, and Oshodi, where traders dangerously operate close to railway tracks.

At the time of this report, Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, Ben Hundeyin, had not responded to inquiries regarding the incident.
