The Hisba Board in Kano State has arrested several young men for allegedly not observing the Ramadan fast on the first day of the holy month.
Dr. Mujahideen Abubakar, the Deputy Commander General of the Board, confirmed the arrests during a press briefing.
He stated that the suspects were detained during routine patrols by Hisba officers across various areas of Kano metropolis.
Additionally, the board arrested approximately 60 individuals for sporting “indecent haircuts,” which violate Islamic law and local cultural norms.
Several commercial tricycle (keke napep) drivers were apprehended for allegedly mixing male and female passengers in their vehicles.
The Hisba Board reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing Sharia law and vowed to continue its patrols throughout Ramadan to ensure compliance.
