BREAKING: Mateta’s double fires Crystal Palace to 2-0 victory over West Ham

Jean-Philippe Mateta’s two-goal performance secured a vital Premier League win for Crystal Palace in their away clash against West Ham.

Mateta opened the scoring by expertly converting a sublime through ball from Eberechi Eze, firing low past goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski into the bottom corner.

In the dying moments, Mateta set up Eddie Nketiah, who was brought down by Fabianski, resulting in a penalty.

Mateta stepped up and saw his spot-kick squeeze under the West Ham keeper, sealing a 2-0 victory for the Eagles.

Graham Potter’s home side had been reduced to 10 men in the 80th minute when Konstantinos Mavropanos was shown a second yellow card after he grappled with Mateta and then launched a high boot into his face.

The result means Palace move up to 12th in the table, while West Ham are a point behind them in 14th place.
