Lagos State Speaker, Mojisola Lasbat Meranda, arrived at the assembly complex to a warm reception from lawmakers who had earlier expressed their support by passing a vote of confidence in her.
As of the time of this report, Meranda had entered the chamber to begin the day’s plenary session.
Around 1:35 p.m., journalists were finally allowed access to the complex, while lawmakers gathered at the assembly garden for a strategic meeting ahead of the scheduled plenary later in the afternoon.
Earlier, Dockaysworld reported that heavily armed security operatives had been deployed to the assembly complex to maintain order.
There were also reports that journalists were initially prevented from entering the premises.
