Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has admitted that Paris Saint-Germain will present a different challenge compared to when his team beat the French side 2-0 earlier in the Champions League.
Following their impressive elimination of Real Madrid on Wednesday night, April 16, Arsenal are set to meet PSG in the semi-finals.
Note that in their previous encounter during the league phase, goals from Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka secured a solid win for the Gunners at the Emirates.
Arteta expressed his respect for PSG, who have successfully eliminated two Premier League teams, Liverpool and Aston Villa. “I watched their game against Villa last night. It was a thrilling match. In this competition, anything can happen. They are an exceptional team, and I understand the quality of their manager well. For now, let’s celebrate our victory tonight and prepare for the challenges ahead,” he said.
He emphasized the need for caution, noting, “While we have prior experience against them, they have evolved into a formidable side. They are currently on a fantastic run. However, our performance tonight demonstrates that we can compete with anyone.”
Arteta also shared his aspirations, stating, “We are determined to reach the final. It will require hard work, but we are confident in our abilities.”
In a show of support for their manager, Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice praised Arteta following the team’s 2-1 victory over Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League quarter-final second leg. Rice, who was named man of the match in both legs, described Arteta as “unbelievable.”
“We have complete trust in our coach, Mikel Arteta,” Rice noted in his post-match interview.
