A fire outbreak on Thursday destroyed part of a seven-storey commercial building belonging to AG Leventis at Iddo House, Iddo, Lagos, causing damage worth millions of naira.
Eyewitnesses reported that the fire started around 11 a.m., affecting the archive room on the first floor, which covers approximately 108 square meters. The building is occupied by Nigeria Bottling Company PLC.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire was caused by self-ignition due to rising temperatures in the tightly packed archival space.
Confirming the incident, Margaret Adeseye, Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, stated that while no lives were lost, valuable properties were destroyed.
