BREAKING: Mixed Reactions As Gov Fubara Buys ‘Soft Drink’ For N100k At A Roadside Shop

Rivers State Governor, Simi Fubara’s kind gesture towards a roadside seller in Port Harcourt is under serious criticism from Nigerians who claim he is part of those who seize every opportunity to weaponize poverty in the face of the current economic hardship in the country.

The governor, in a video, stopped by a roadside shop and bought a bottle of Soda (Sprite) for N100k.

The shop owner and other spectators couldn’t contain their joy in the video as they jumped up and cheered on the governor saying: “You have come to stay for 8 years.”

A socio-political commentator, Raji Ibrahim reacted saying: “Is good he’s helping but that doesn’t change the fact that politic!ans knows quite well there’s poverty in the land and they are using every opportunity to explore!t that off people.

“Imagine the people’s reaction before and after he gave the money.”

Another commenter said: “Weaponized poverty. 100k cannot solve their problems. Do the needful Gov. Fubara. Provide good roads, steady light, good healthcare system, make food affordable.”

Meanwhile, the political crisis in Rivers State appeared unresolved yesterday after Fubara declared his willingness to resign from office.

Recall that FCT Minister, Nyesom wike had blamed Governor Fubara for the escalation of the conflict in the state.

Speaking exclusively to AIT yesterday, Fubara said: “I’m willing to give up my office for peace in Rivers State.
