In a speech given at a function in the state of Enugu, Kashim Shettima claimed that the South East had to be made to function at its best for Nigeria to function. Shettima stated that the area needs a sufficient supply of electricity to support industrialization, according to VANGUARD NEWS. The vice president asserted that the people of the Southeast are practically mobile, economically enterprising, and driven to pursue higher education, much like Jews.
Bola Tinubu, the president, is eager to increase his investments in the area, according to Kashim Shettima. The vice president disclosed that he had previously turned down a suggestion that the government shut off the South East’s supply of electricity. He clarified that the debt profile of the area was to blame for this. But he pointed out

He explained that this was due to the region’s debt profile. He however noted that because Tinubu means well for the region, his government decided to overlook that.
Shettima said, “We have to make the South East work because Nigeria’ll work if South East works. We’re targeting the southeast for two million jobs for women and the youths. We’re proceeding to Abia state to commission the power station built by the elder statesman, Prof Barth Nnaji and we will also commission some road projects and back to Enugu to commission the Smart school because education is the greatest gift you can give a generation.”
