BREAKING: NABTEB, NASENI Partner On ICT Infrastructure Upgrade, Digitisation Of Exams Processes

The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) and the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) have agreed to collaborate on the upgrading of NABTEB’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure with a view to revolutionising the Board’s examination processes.

The development, which will be consequent upon leveraging the strengths of NABTEB and NASENI through ICT, holds immense potential for launching NABTEB into a more credible assessment and certification body.

The registrar/chief executive officer, NABTEB, Dr. Mohammed Aminu Mohammed, made this known during a meeting between NABTEB and representatives of NASENI at NABTEB headquarters in Benin City, the Edo State capital.

Dr. Mohammed said both organisations are of the understanding that the partnership will help NABTEB streamline operations, improve security, enhance accessibility and ultimately elevate the quality of its assessment and certification.

According to Dr. Mohammed, NABTEB as a foremost national examination body saddled with the responsibility for registration, question paper development, distribution, conduct of crafts and master crafts as well as modular trade examinations, marking of scripts, result processing and award of certificates, needs an ICT infrastructure capable of delivering on its mandate.

The NABTEB boss added that the strengthening of the Board’s ICT capabilities is even more paramount given the minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Olatunji Alausa’s unwavering commitment to functional education, part of which include the Minister’s drive to ensure the success of the administration’s directive to examination bodies to be fully digitised by mounting Computer Based Test (CBT) from 2026 in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Dr. Mohammed said the Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, NASENI, Mr. Khalil Halilu, in an earlier meeting with him in Abuja, had pledged the intervention of his agency by helping NABTEB set up a digital ICT department.

The NABTEB registrar commended Mr. Halilu for assiduously working to make good on his support by promising to deliver to NABTEB a new ICT building with the accompanying ICT infrastructure within the next six months.

He expressed optimism that NASENI will provide the Board with world-class infrastructure that will support it to maintain integrity, efficiency and relevance of its examinations in the digital age.

The Special Adviser to the Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NASENI on Emerging Technology, Mr. Bashir Aliyu, told the meeting that NASENI would support and help NABTEB in the digitisation of its examination processes.

“We are here to support you. We are here to help you in digitisation. We did it in NASENI. This is the way to go, to help you leapfrog by being reliant on ICT”, Mr. Aliyu added.
