The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, Southwest Zone D has urged President Bola Tinubu to quickly address the issue of the high cost of living in the country, saying many Nigerians are finding it difficult to survive.
Vanguard report that, the position of the student body was made known in a statement after a meeting in Osogbo, Osun State yesterday.
The statement was signed by the Zonal Coordinator, Comrade Alao John, the Zonal Secretary, Comrade Sanni Olamide, and the Zonal Public Relations Officer, Comrade Bamigboye Oluwadamilola.
The group expressed grave concern for the suffering that the people of Nigeria were going through and strongly urged President Tinubu to take immediate action to address the situation. “Nigeria has been dealing with a number of economic difficulties, such as inflation, unemployment, and a declining value of the Naira, which have greatly increased the cost of living nationwide. These difficulties have been especially hard on the average Nigerian, making it harder and harder to pay for needs like food, housing, and medical care.
The cost of living is skyrocketing, putting the inhabitants in severe financial distress. Stalling income and soaring costs are forcing many families into poverty as they struggle to make ends meet.
Thus, NANS Southwest Zone D is pleading with President Bola Tinubu to step in and solve the deteriorating circumstances. President Tinubu is asked to put Nigerian citizens’ wellbeing first and act decisively to lessen their suffering in his capacity as the country’s leader.
