BREAKING: Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule Sacks Commissioners, SSG, Others

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has dissolved the State Executive Council (SEC) with immediate effect.

The decision was announced by the Governor himself at the end of an expanded meeting of the Exco.

The dissolution affects all commissioners, special advisers, and senior special assistants, including the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Muhammad Ubandoma-Aliyu.

This development was confirmed by Labaran Magaji, the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice of Nasarawa State, on his Facebook page.

Magaji wrote, “Following an emergency EXCO meeting held this evening in the council chamber Government House Lafia, the Governor in council announced the dissolution of Nasarawa State Executive Council, thereby bringing my tenure as the Honourable Attorney-General of Nasarawa State to an end. I sincerely thank His Excellency Engr Abdullahi Sule FNSE for giving me the opportunity to serve the state in that capacity, and I also appreciate the management and staff of the Ministry of Justice Lafia for all the support given to me to register such a modest success in the management of our justice system in the state. My appreciation also goes to members of the State security architecture for their unwavering support too. To friends, family and well wishers, i sincerely thank you for the unending solidarity.”

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the reason for the dissolution is yet to be made public.

However, it can be recalled that in 2021 during his first tenure, the governor dissolved the state executive council, citing the need for a more effective and efficient governance structure.

He also dissolved his cabinet in 2023 ahead of his second-term inauguration as governor.
