The new Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mojisola Lasbat Meranda on Monday, paid a courtesy call on the state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Naija News reports the Speaker was accompanied on the visit by other principal officers of the House.
They were received by Governor Sanwo-Olu at his office in Alausa, Ikeja.
The Speaker was received by the Governor and his Deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, shortly before the commencement of the weekly State Executive Council meeting.
Governor Sanwo-Olu led the Speaker and her delegation to the Council Chamber, where the Speaker and EXCO members pledged to continue a harmonious work relationship between the two arms of Government In Lagos State.
According to the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Sanwo-Olu on New Media, Jubril Gawat, the Principal Officers that accompanied the Speaker were Deputy Speaker: Hon Mojeed Fatai (Ibeju-Lekki State Constituency 1), Majority Leader: Hon. Temitope Adedeji (Ifako Ijaiye 1), Deputy Majority Leader, Hon. Richard Kasunmu (Ikeja 2), Chief Whip, Hon. Sanni Babatunde (Kosofe 1), Deputy Chief Whip, Hon. David Setonji (Badagry 2).
It would be recalled that Meranda emerged as the Speaker of the Lagos Assembly last week following the impeachment of Mudashiru Obasa.
Obasa was, on Monday, impeached as Speaker by his colleagues in the Lagos State House of Assembly over allegations of financial mismanagement and abuse of office.
