BREAKING NEWS: Chef Lentswe Has Died

“It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the untimely passing of our beloved son and brother, Lentswe Bhengu-Mafoko fondly known to the media and his culinary family as Chef Lentswe,” read part of the statement.

According to the family’s statement, Lentswe succumbed to a short illness on Tuesday evening at the Sandton Medi-Clinic

“Lentswe had the misfortunate of suffering a short illness and succumbed last night, 28th of February 2021 at Sandton Medi-Clinic,” said his family in a statement.

As they mourn the loss of Chef Lentswe privately, the Mafoko and Bhengu families have asked for prayers and requested some privacy. They further said that details of his funeral and memorial service would be announced in due course.

Lentswe is well known for his culinary skills and he has appeared on numerous TV cooking shows. In addition to his culinary expertise, he will b remembered for his large personality.

His peers from the culinary industry, celebs, and fans flooded social media with messages of condolences.

His passing comes as the culinary industry is mourning the death of South African gamechanger, entertainment entrepreneur, seasoned chef, and celebrated author Tebello’ Tibz’ Motsoane

The chef was killed outside the Wish restaurant in Florida Road, Morningside, Durban alongside his friend rapper Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes. In a statement, Tibz’s family said they were still waiting for details about the shooting from the police, as the investigation continues.

They continued to thank everyone for the support and love they have received since the incident happened.

“To us, Tebello was a son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend. To many, he was Tibz Wa Bantwana, Chief of Cool, Summer Time Cool Creator, K1 K9, and many other names of affection. Our son was loved and he gave love in return. As we come to terms with the devastating truth that our only son is no longer with us we appeal for your compassion, space, and time to congregate as a family to decide on the upcoming days.

“We thank you for the love and support we have received and ask you to continue to lift us up in prayer before the Lord,” reads the statement. Tibz was laid to rest on 18 February.
