The National Vice Chairman of the All Progressive Congress, South West Zone, Isaac Kekemeke has metaphorically described Nigeria’s situation as a ship being driven in reverse, suggesting a regressive trajectory.
He stated that the actions of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is an effort to halt this backward movement and shift the vehicle into forward gear. He acknowledged that progressing from the setbacks caused by reversing might be time-consuming.
He pleaded with Nigerians to endure the current challenges, recognizing them as a necessary sacrifice to correct the course.
He said in an interview with Punch, ”What has happened is that Nigeria’s ship was being driven to reverse, we were driving in reverse gear. What Asiwaju is currently doing is to stop the vehicle from driving with the reverse gear.
Now, putting the vehicle in gear one to cover the ground that has been lost by reverse may take a lot of time.
So, we just put the vehicle on stop reversing and we are beginning to way let us go forward to gear one. It may take time. We can only plead with Nigerians that the present suffering which we all acknowledge is proof that we need to pay to get things right.
